JEA has scheduled Scholastic Journalism Week 2027 for Feb. 22-26. The week’s theme is “Start Here, Change Everything.” The SJW Student Poster Contest will open Aug. 10, and entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. CDT Sept. 14.

SPJ and JEA name winners of 2026 essay contest

JEA and the Society of Professional Journalists are pleased to announce the three scholarship winners of the 2026 SPJ/JEA High School Essay Contest. 145 high school students participated in this year’s nationwide contest. The top three winners will each receive a scholarship prize: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $300 for third place.
