Step-by-Step Guide to Scheduling Your Part 107 Exam

When you are consistently passing your practice tests (I was passing mine through the Pilot Institute course), it is time to schedule the official FAA test. The process involves a few specific steps across different government platforms, so follow them carefully.

First, you need to create an account on the FAA’s Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) website. Register as an “Applicant.” Upon completing your profile, the system will assign you an FAA Tracking Number (FTN). Write this number down. You will need it to schedule the test.

Next, head to the PSI True Talent FAA portal, which is the group that administers all FAA exams. Create an account using your new FTN. Once your account is verified, search for the “Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)” test. The scheduling system will allow you to find a testing center near you and select an open date and time.

The testing fee is $175, paid directly to PSI when you book. On the day of your exam, arrive at the testing center early. You must bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID that includes your signature and current physical address. You cannot bring your phone or smart watch or really anything else into the testing room. I got a wand used on me before I could go in. They definitely don’t want you taking anything in that might cause an issue.  They will provide a physical supplement book with the charts you need, a calculator and scratch paper.

I took my test on a computer that spit my score out right after I was done taking the test. That’s always a good thing when you pass, and not real fun when you don’t.

Good luck!
