A few weeks ago, I was listening to my staff’s livestream of a basketball game when I heard the announcers get super excited about a made basket right before halftime. I went and rewound the play and saw that it was a pretty great bank shot to end the half.
It got me thinking, there should be an easy way to save and archive big plays. These could be used in a variety of ways from promoting past or upcoming streams to creating an end of season post highlighting the top plays of the season.
I found this article that showed how to make GIFs from a Youtube video and then I called up the clip of the game and found the play I wanted. It was pretty quick and easy to capture the moment get the site to give me an embeddable GIF. After I created an account, I even had the option to download the GIF.
There is a paid version where you can get some extra features and remove watermarks, but the one made and shared here in this post was created with the free version.
