The 2023 general election included a record-setting 17 candidates vying for two open director-at-large seats. Elections took place Feb. 17-26, 2023. Of the 2,466 total ballots successfully emailed, 395 members voted.
During the Feb. 17-26 JEA board of directors election, no director-at-large candidate met the 50% threshold, so a runoff election took place March 3-7 among the top four vote-getters for the director-at-large positions. Of the 2,466 total ballots successfully emailed, 366 members voted in the runoff election.
The president, vice president and directors are elected to two-year terms and shall serve no more than two consecutive terms in the same capacity. After two consecutive terms, the individual may run again for a different office or may run for the same office again in two years. Appointed positions are two-year commitments with no term limits.
Scholastic press rights director and Yanes’ director-at-large seat will be open for the 2024 election.
