  • Jim A. Angele, of Lincoln, Neb., who served for 15 years an assistant director of the Nebraska School Activities Association and as an ex officio member of the Nebraska High School Press Association.
  • The Boston Globe, Brian McGrory, editor, and the paper’s partnership with the New England High School Journalism Collaborative, its co-sponsorship of Media Matters, a two-day scholastic journalism workshop, and its hosting the 2012 Intensive Journalistic Writing Institute.
  • Dann P. Gire, The Chicago Daily Herald, Arlington, Ill., for his consistent support of Illinois advisers and his generosity in judging state contests and speaking at numerous workshops and conferences.
  • Tim Taylor, superintendent of Butte County Office of Education, Oroville, Calif., who has supported a Sacramento student paper, The Sacramento County Breeze, as an assistant superintendent there, and who has continued his support in Butte County, partnering with the California Scholastic Journalism Institute to create the Chico Enterprise Record, serving students without their own high school publication.
