The Journalism Education Association will conduct a modified, virtual general membership meeting April 17, 2020. Members will have the ability to access materials by logging in to JEA.org with their username and password. The materials will remain available online for future access.

To model the traditional format as closely as possible, the meeting will include pre-recorded reports from Executive Director Kelly Glasscock, CJE, and President Sarah Nichols, MJE. Agenda items include approval of previous meeting minutes, summary of board action, JEA election data, convention updates and financial reports.

In addition, members have the option to submit questions in advance to be addressed in the meeting.

“I want to create as many opportunities as possible for dialogue with our members. Having a general membership meeting is about more than good governance for the association — it’s about maintaining strong lines of communication and connecting with the people we serve,” Nichols said.

To submit a question, concern or idea for consideration, members should complete this form by April 9, 2020.

Glasscock said, “I’m sure members want to know how COVID-19 will influence the organization, and how the cancellation of the spring convention affected this fiscal year’s financials. We need more communication right now, not less, so continuing with a virtual general membership meeting to keep members informed is of paramount importance.”
