There’s no shortage of interactive timeline tools available online (like TimelineJS, a favorite, that adviser Matthew Schott wrote about in this post). However, the EdTech tool Sutori offers something a little different, which may have some usefulness for student media staffs.
The tool allows for the integration of text boxes and images into a vertical line format. It’s easy to use and creates a pretty visually clean and easy to follow presentation of information. You can create your story, then publish it to the web and embed it directly into your website for free.
There’s also a paid version, $99 per year, that allows users to embed from elsewhere as well (Instagram, Twitter, SoundCloud, YouTube, Piktochart, etc.), and gives users the option to integrate video, quizzes, “Did you know?” boxes, and discussion forums directly into their embeddable stories.
Take a look at the example below, created by the Sutori folks and posted to their website. Some will notice right away how similar it looks to no-longer-available storytelling tool Storify. The paid version could definitely serve as a replacement for those seeking something similar.
