We’ve talked a few times in different posts on this site how Lynda.com is a great resource for educators and students to get some of the technical training they need as the site houses quality video tutorials on everything from Adobe Premiere and Indesign to video lighting and photo essays. I’ve actually talked about how I’ve paid for the service for years and how the money was well spent.
Having said that, I don’t plan on paying for it anymore.
I found out earlier this year that our local library offers free access to Lynda.com for card carrying members. They have a plethora of free resources for members ranging from Consumer Reports subscriptions to access to the LA Times. You can see what the St. Charles County Library offers here, you will notice Lynda.com is in the mix.
My advice today, check on the resources your local library offers and see what’s available. When I found out Lynda.com was available through the library, I planned out a lesson to show students how to access the site and what all was on there. I also sent them out an email with information that included everything from the direct link to sign in, as well as information on how they could get a library card if they didn’t already have one.
