JEA members are invited to apply by April 15 to chair one of the organization’s standing committees for a three-year term that begins May 1, 2017. Bylaw Article VII, Section 1 specifies seven standing committees:
  • Awards
  • Certification
  • Contests
  • Digital Media
  • Nominations
  • Professional Outreach
  • Publications and Public Relations
Information about these positions and the presidential appointment process is online in the bylaws and job descriptions. To apply for one of the positions above, members should submit a letter of interest and resume to President-elect Sarah Nichols, MJE, by April 15 via email at sarahjnichols.sjn@gmail.com. Nichols will begin appointing committee chairs May 1 when the new board term begins.

May 19-21 the new board of directors will meet at JEA Headquarters for training, goal setting and strategic planning. As part of this process and the new board transition, other committee, liaison and editor roles — and possibly new positions and leadership opportunities — will be announced in May. Any opportunities to serve will be posted here, on JEAHELP and on the organization’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
