A virtual convention is a new adventure for all of us. JEA and NSPA staffs have spent the past few months learning how to present attendees with an outstanding virtual convention. The Fall JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention Nov. 19-21 will be be a unique experience but we don’t want it to be a daunting one. 

JEA created a new resource to assist journalism teachers and advisers with virtual convention planning, participation and post-convention continued learning activities. 

The teacher and adviser’s guide illustrates how teachers and students can experience the convention in various learning models:
• Virtual synchronous learning
• Virtual asynchronous learning
• In-person learning
• Hybrid learning
• Field trip accommodations

The guide includes three student accountability tools: a learning log, “First Five” mini-lesson template and a session sharing slideshow template.
