Jea 100 Logo that reads Stories from Our community

As JEA celebrates its centennial, we aim to showcase members in a variety of ways and highlight individuals or groups on a special centennial website. One area of the site will present short clips members record and submit. Please help contribute to the audio gallery, and please encourage others in JEA’s community to participate as well.

Option 1: Share your story

Length: 30 seconds to two minutes

Format: Record yourself using a smartphone (such as Voice Memos on iOS).

Here’s an example.

Sample prompts:

  • What I love about JEA
  • When I first joined JEA, I …
  • First convention
  • Most valuable JEA resource
  • I got involved with __ because __ (committee/project/program)
  • I wish others knew … about JEA
  • I’m a better adviser because of __ (from JEA)

You can also create your own variation such as singing the First Amendment or reciting your own original poem. Have fun!

For the visual, you’ll submit a photo and we’ll do the rest. It will look like the sample below.

(A teaching/action shot is best, but a portrait or school photo or professional headshot is fine, too. If you have a photo specifically related to the topic of your audio clip, that’s great.)

Option 2: Chat briefly with another JEA member

Length: Not to exceed eight minutes. Aim for five to seven minutes.

Format: Record in person via Voice Memo or use Zoom (or another tool) to capture audio from a webchat or online meeting.

Here’s an example.

Sample prompts or ideas:

  • We worked together on ___ committee/project
  • Mentor-mentee relationship
  • You helped me get involved in JEA …
  • Remember that time when …
  • Our experience serving together as board members, state directors (etc.)

For the image, you’ll submit a photo (or two) and we’ll do the rest. It’s best if you have a photo of both people together. If you don’t, send a photo of each person and we’ll make a composite.

To submit your recording and photo(s), complete this form.

Deadline: Dec. 15, 2023
