New advisers eager for professional development and veteran advisers who have shied away from the convention price tag can get assistance to attend the Fall JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention this November.

The JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention is a one-of-a-kind experience for media advisers and students. The fall 2020 virtual event comprises 100 breakout sessions, two professional keynotes, media swap shops, exhibit hall with an interactive tradeshow and college corner, and Pacemaker award ceremony.

The First-time Convention Grant is available to any media adviser who has not attended the JEA/NSPA convention previously. The grant targets diverse and underserved populations, but any adviser wanting to attend the convention for the first time is invited to apply.

Up to four first-time convention grants will be distributed.

The First-time Convention Grant includes:

  • JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention registration for one adviser and two students
  • JEA membership for one adviser, one-year
  • JEA Advisers Institute (July 2021) registration for one adviser

The application deadline for the grant is Sept. 15. Applications require administrator approval.

Grant recipients will be selected by Oct. 1. Advisers who are not selected for the grant, can still register for the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention — the early-bird deadline is Oct. 15.

Apply for the First-time Convention Grant.
