Your staff has a Facebook and Twitter, now take a look at adding a Tumblr.

This video give you a little look into Tumblr., another of the many social media sites out there where people are sharing things. While it may not yield the traffic a Facebook presence might, scholastic media staffs should take note of this tool and consider creating a Tumblr.

It’s easy to post photos, video and audio from a computer (and even easier from a smartphone that is connected to the account. Staffs could use Tumblr. to share a photo from one of the galleries up loaded on the site or even tease a great quote that’s in a story. They could use Tumblr. as their mechanism to post a Photo of the Day from school (again, very easily done from a smartphone).

My staff has been using it for a few months…well, actually it’s mostly been one very dedicated staffer who has been rocking the Tumblr. this year. Really though, that’s what it takes. Find someone on staff who is interested and talking about it and let them run with it. It’s a great learning tool for them and it’s another great arm to add to your media program. You can see what my staff has done this fall on Tumblr.

Is your staff on Tumblr.? Give us the link in the comments below.
