Video Storytelling Pre-Convention Workshop to be Offered in Kansas City

Thanks to the hard work of some of JEA’s Apple Distinguished Educators, the Kansas City convention has secured a digital video computer lab and added a new pre-convention workshop — video storytelling with Final Cut Pro.

Here’s the description:
Learn how to use Apple’s Final Cut Pro to create stories for your broadcast program or for online media. Taught by Michael Hernandez of Mira Costa HS (California) and Kate Hunyor of Ottawa Hills HS (Ohio), this class will help you learn Final Cut Pro so that editing becomes secondhand.

Learn how to organize your workflow, edit clips and audio, add voiceovers, create titles, and output your finished movie for a variety of formats including broadcast and the Web. The Macintosh computers for the lab are provided by Apple Inc. Students and advisers are welcome to take this course.

Each participant should bring a set of headphones, a USB microphone, and a portable hard drive or flash drive to save your finished project. A limited number of headphones and microphones will be available for use during the class. Cost is $25. Limit 38 with two participants per computer. No more than two per school.

You can register for this workshop during online registration (http://register.studentpress.org/kc2010/) along with all of the other workshops being offered in Kansas City. If you have already registered and would like to add this workshop to your registration, please call NSPA at 612-625-8335 for assistance.
