Use a Lightning to SD Card Reader with Your iPhone to Make Posting Event Photos and Videos Quicker To Social Media

I had a student talk to me last week about wanting to posts and videos to Instagram during a ballgame. It had been a few years since I had a student want to do this so I encouraged it whole heartedly.

I followed up with him the next day to see how it went after I saw he posted some things that evening. He said it was good, but the process just took longer than he wanted it to. He explained how he gathered the photos and videos on his DSLR, uploaded those on his computer to Google Drive. He then downloaded what he wanted to his phone and posted from there.

Had I known that was going to be his process, we would have talked about some alternatives. As it was, we talked about some things that could have made it go more quickly and I finished by showing him this $30 Apple Lightning to SD Card Reader. As it had been years since I had one in the room, I went ahead and ordered another one that arrived two days later.

I shared it immediately with the student who saw just how quickly he could take assets now and get them onto his phone to post on social.

Had he started with this adapter, I’m not sure he would have appreciated it as much as he does now, but he and I will sing its praises if you’re looking for something to quickly move your DSLR photos and videos to a phone.
