St. Louis Post-Dispatch Photojournalist Chris Lee uses 360 Panorama technique to help document unrest in Ferguson

Chris Lee Panorama of unrest in Ferguson, Missouri

St. Louis Post-Dispatch photojournalist Chris Lee used the 360 Panorama app to document this moment in Ferguson, Missouri.

Journalism students and instructors are always hearing about apps and tools they should use for covering events. Sometimes, it’s tough to find these tools used effectively in actual reporting. We’ve actually posted before about St. Louis Post-Dispatch photographer Chris Lee’s use of the 360 panoramas. It was a post in 2013 about his use of them at the St. Louis Cardinals spring training in Florida.

I thought Lee’s use of it last week for breaking news during the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, was a great example share with staffs. Lee stood between police and demonstrators and documented the moment, allowing the viewer to feel as if they were standing there too between the two lines.

You can check out the 360 panorama here on STLtoday.com: Police block West Florissant Ave. in Ferguson
