Professional Media Have Found Their Way to TikTok, What Should High School Staffs Be Doing There?
I was teaching at a summer journalism workshop a couple weeks ago and Chris Snider started exploring TikTok and playing around with it (yes, he’d like you to follow him on TikTok @csnider24).
It got us all talking though about how high school journalism staffs could be using the medium.
At the time, we didn’t have a definite answer but I did find the Washington Post has a TikTok account that seemed fairly well followed.
The more I got looking at TikTok and what was going on with it, the more articles I found that helped. Here are a few to check out:
- Meet TikTok: How The Washington Post, NBC News, and The Dallas Morning News are using the of-the-moment platform
- The Washington Post has a surprisingly popular TikTok account

If there are any posts where I’d love some comments, it’s this one. How do you see high school journalism staffs using the medium or what high school staffs out there do you already know that have TikTok accounts?
I see a lot of potential for staffs to make some waves with the app in the coming year. Would love to hear some ideas from you all.
Thanks in advance for sharing in the comments below.
