[Presentation] How to survive the first year online from NSPA/JEA

At the recent NSPA/JEA conference in Minneapolis, I presented a session called “How to survive the first year online.” In it, I listed the five key component to Niles West News‘, the website I advise, success during our first year online. It was difficult to narrow it down to just five things–but for the sake of time during the presentation, I was able to dwindle down my list.

The 5 key components:

1. Immediate Content/Breaking News
2. Comments (Interactivity)
3. Social Media (Community)
4. Multimedia
5. Collaboration (with other departments within the school)
