Last week I was part of an #edShift Twitter chat that focused on how journalists can use Snapchat for telling stories. The hour-long chat covered a variety of topics ranging from how to get started with Snapchat to storytelling tips for the medium. Here are the 10 questions/topics that host Stacy Forster asked/covered during the chat:
- For those who haven’t discovered Snapchat — or who may still be exploring it — how do you describe it and its storytelling potential?
- How is Snapchat different from other social media, and how do you take advantage of those differences?
- How is Snapchat impacting how we communicate and use video?
- What’s the best advice for someone just starting out on Snapchat? How should they begin?
- How can news organizations and marketers overall improve their use of Snapchat? What are some missed opportunities?
- How can educators use Snapchat in the classroom to teach storytelling? What ways can you incorporate it into assignments?
- Do you need any equipment beyond what’s on your phone?
- We ended with some sharing — what are some accounts to follow, and what other resources are out there?
You can see the panel that was a part of the chat, as well as a full Storify of the questions and answers by participants here: http://mediashift.org/2016/07/edshift-chat-how-to-use-snapchat-for-storytelling/ There’s some good information within for individuals or staffs looking to use Snapchat and you’ll find a few good links that were shared within as well.
