Brian Stiles shared this great video on the JEA Listserv and I had to pass it along.
My students have actually been looking to purchase a teleprompter for some of the work they are doing, but I never want to invest too much money into things unless I know their ideas are going to stick and last.
In the video, you will see how you can use a laptop, a frame with glass, some wood and a few other items to easily create a teleprompter to use with your DSLR video camera. This will allow your anchors who are reading a script to be able to look at the camera when talking so their eyes don’t wander.
The video is a little more than 14 minutes and it goes through everything you need to make your own, including where he links to the software he’s using on the laptop.
If you’re looking for a nice, inexpensive teleprompter solution for your staff — or your own personal projects, this is a great video to check out.
