It’s one thing to get readers to your website, it’s another to keep them there once they arrive. If you’re looking for a nice 50-minute activity for staff to help them realize ways to keep readers from quickly bouncing from the site, this is a good one.
The lesson is part of the JEA curriculum and includes a worksheet evaluation and a powerpoint for you to download and use. The powerpoint covers everything from covering who your audience is and how they consume content to embedding links and adding related stories to the bottom of posts.
I think this is a great lesson not only for webmasters to assess tools that might be helpful to add, but also for all staffers to get some ideas on how to make posts more engaging for visitors.
This curriculum is available to all JEA members. To access the curriculum, you must be logged in to the JEA Curriculum site. Once you are, you can access this lesson here: Keep Readers From Leaving Your Site.
