Four new Web module lessons now available

Now available on the JEA Web Curriculum page (member login required) are four new lessons:

Comparing Print and Online Journalism: Students complete a coverage analysis exercise to identify the strengths and challenges of the online medium.

The Return of the Inverted Pyramid: Using a song, students practice writing a story for the Web using the inverted pyramid structure.

Beat Coverage and the Web — Why It Makes Sense: In this lesson, students analyze popular beat blogs, then identify beats on their own campus.

Generating stories for online beat coverage: A follow-up to the previous lesson, this lesson requires students to generate stories for a beat, then pitch a slate of stories worthy of online coverage.

Keep an eye out for the next wave of Web curriculum updates, which will include a lesson sequence on developing online story packages and integrating multimedia. If you have special requests or questions, feel free to comment here or email me directly at balmeo@gmail.com.
