JEA Advisers Institute will return to New Orleans in 2020 and 2021

The Journalism Education Association signed contracts with the Ace Hotel in New Orleans for 2020 and 2021 to host its summer Advisers Institute.

The motion passed 7-0 in an electronic vote conducted by the board of directors Aug. 17, 2019.

“The move to bring JEA Advisers Institute to New Orleans was popular, but the venue chosen for the event fit our needs perfectly,” JEA Executive Director Kelly Glasscock, CJE, said. “While attendees received an authentic New Orleans experience, I know the location and venue will serve the program well for the next few years. I hope JEA members will take advantage of the unique location while we’re there.”

The Ace Hotel is located downtown, near Canal street and the French Quarter. This provides easy access for members to explore the rich history of the city on foot or by streetcar. The 2019 Institute drove record numbers to the summer conference. Attendees should plan early to attend the next AI to secure a room at the conference hotel.

“There is simply no city quite like NOLA. With a distinct Creole flavor, New Orleans overpowers your senses from the French Quarter to Jackson Square,” Director-at-large Michael Malcom-Bjorklund, CJE, said. “As a board member and journalism adviser, I was fortunate to stay in the vibrant, hip and trendy Ace Hotel for the 2019 Advisers Institute. Located in the Warehouse District of the city, this boutique hotel harkens the spirit of a bygone era. Whether alone, with friends or with your family, the Advisers Institute offers JEA members with a unique opportunity to collaborate, communicate and learn from some of the best and brightest advisers in the nation.”
